UNTHA staff spotlight - Hector Montellano
Name: Hector Montellano
Job title: Sales and business development manager
1. What does your role entail?
I’m responsible for the sales and business development of UNTHA in Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
My primary duties include identifying business opportunities, building and maintaining successful relationships with prospects and existing clients, collaborating with UNTHA executives on business strategy to determine and deliver the objectives of both our organisation and clients’, evaluating current business performance and maximising the reach and potential of our company.
2. How long have you been with the company?
I joined the UNTHA team in September 2005 with the goal of expanding our market in Spanish speaking countries. However, in recent years, I am also lucky enough to have been involved in projects in Asia, Russia, Central Europe and the Middle East, though I’m back concentrating on Spain, Portugal and Latin America now.
3. What’s the best thing about your job?
I really enjoy travelling and meeting people in the various countries I have the pleasure of visiting. I find it really interesting how organisations with different regulations, cultures and attitudes, approach fairly similar projects from one location to the next. This is really enriching on both a professional and personal level, and I now have friends everywhere I go.
4. Of all the places you’ve visited during your time with UNTHA, which has been your favourite?
It’s hard to pick only one place because every country has its own identity and uniqueness. However, Latin America is a great place to work due to the charm of the people and the usually warm weather!
5. For you, which is UNTHA’s stand-out shredder?
For me, our reputation is built as much on our people, as it is our technology. Although UNTHA develops and manufactures world-renowned shredding machines, we also deliver commitment and respect to our customers. This is the reason why the waste and recycling industries, globally, know UNTHA and trust our team.
6. What’s been your biggest work achievement, since joining UNTHA?
To have gained the trust and respect of my teammates and customers over the years. Also I feel extremely proud that in Latin America, I don’t think there is an UNTHA customer with just one shredder – all of them have at least two, which shows the impact we have had on their businesses, for them to keep investing in our technology.
7. Describe UNTHA in three words:
Trustworthy, reliable and respectful.
And finally some more light-hearted questions:
8. What’s your favourite food?
I like Japanese, Mexican and steaks.
9. How do you relax on a weekend?
Since I spend 30-40% of my time traveling overseas, enjoying time at home is something I really appreciate. I often barbecue for my friends and family.
Austria is an amazing country for outdoor activities, so I also like to hike in the mountains or swim in our beautiful lakes.
10. If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Company – I need to be around people.
