Christian Lanner talks all things technical before considering the best way to recharge his brain…

Name: Christian Lanner

Job title: Technical Director

  1. What does your role entail?

I am lucky to have a very varied job, which includes everything from product development to project management. From the initial conception of waste shredding solutions through to the ongoing service that our business unit provides, my responsibilities are very diverse but I love this scope.

  1. How long have you been with the company?

22 years.

  1. What’s the best thing about your job?

That I have an active and senior input into four key areas of the business unit – product development, product management, project delivery and after sales. Every day is very different, but this allows me to put my technical knowledge and vast UNTHA experience to good use.

I also love the opportunity to travel all over the world and have seen some very interesting countries. I must also mention the young, ambitious and motivated team that I have around me – it’s a great business to be a part of.

  1. Of all the places you’ve visited during your time with UNTHA, which has been your favourite?

A two week business trip to Mexico. During this time I saw some beautiful places like Acapulco, as well as more shocking sights such as families with young children living on a landfill site in Mexico City. It was a really eye-opening trip that made me even more grateful for the way of life we are lucky enough to enjoy in Austria.

  1. For you, which is UNTHA’s stand-out shredder?

The XR3000C mobil-e.

  1. What’s been your biggest work achievement, since joining UNTHA?

In terms of technical innovation it has to be the development of this renowned mobile machine. In terms of wider professional achievements, I am very proud to have helped create the management team that now leads the business unit waste.

  1. Describe UNTHA in three words:

Innovative, reliable, service-focused (it has to be four!)

And finally some more light-hearted questions:

8.What’s your favourite food?

Fillet from highland beef.

  1. How do you relax on a weekend?

I have a small farm with 20 highland cattle, so there is no time for relaxing! But to use my time to do something completely different, away from the business, helps my brain to recharge.

  1. If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

My three children and my wife.
