In the lead with customised wood shredding solutions
For Austrian shredding expert UNTHA, exhibiting at the LIGNA, the world's leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry that takes place every two years, is an absolute must. "We use this platform both for recruiting new customers and for looking after existing ones. In addition, the trade fair is a great opportunity for exchange with our international sales partners and for strengthening awareness of the UNTHA brand as reliable providers of solutions for residual wood", says Josef Gruber, head of business unit wood at UNTHA shredding technology. After five intense days at the trade fair, UNTHA has reaped some highly positive results: "Based on the exceptional number of completed sales, we can say that the trade fair has been a resounding success. Our results were significantly higher than two years ago", says Josef Gruber.
Trade fair premiere for the QR1400
The highlight at the UNTHA trade fair stand was the QR1400 shredder, which was shown to a broader audience at the LIGNA for the first time. This robust and reliable shredder from the QR family is a single-shaft shredder for high throughputs of up to 25 srm/h and may be used for the shredding of residual wood, waste wood and pallets. Different screen inserts ranging from 15 to 100 mm produce homogeneous, recoverable wood chips. The QR class comes with a maintenance-free safety coupling, protecting the cutting chamber and the power train from serious damage caused by extraneous matter. The innovative service flap is opened using a hydraulic hand pump and ensures easy and fast access to the cutting chamber. This makes the indexable inserts and cutting bars easy to replace and facilitates the removal of extraneous matter as well as the precise adjustment of the cutting gap. The tried-and-tested UNTHA product range, some models of which were shown in live demos, also met with great interest.
Gateway to international markets
For UNTHA, the international status of the LIGNA trade fair is a major factor in the success of the event. The sales team welcomed customers from all over the world at the stand – an important bonus for a globally active manufacturer of shredding solutions when it comes to exploring new and existing markets. "In principle, there is a demand for our solutions wherever material should be shredded to a homogeneous size. In addition to the German-speaking world and Europe in general, our most important markets for wood shredding are the US, Latin America, South Africa and Asia", explains Josef Gruber. Every market has different requirements and framework conditions. "For us as a manufacturer, the trade fair is crucial for observing trends and market developments and for maximising new potential", the UNTHA sales specialist continues. From his point of view, important future topics for wood shredding include the trends towards digitalisation and comprehensive monitoring. The top priorities for UNTHA remain outstanding quality and the provision of shredding technology and the connected peripherals as customised, complete solutions. "The feedback we get from our customers confirms that we are on the right path. They appreciate the reliability and longevity of our products and our competent, personalised service. In the wood shredding sector, UNTHA clearly is the first choice", is how Josef Gruber sums up the many feedback signals received from customers during the trade fair.
