Everything from a single source – UNTHA supplies shredders including conveyor technology
In addition to its proven wood shredders, UNTHA offers its customers comprehensive consulting services and the planning of complete systems, including the corresponding conveyor technology. Complete solutions for the efficient recycling of residual wood from production are precisely tailored to the requirements of the company and the conditions on site. The UNTHA team provides support in planning, installation, and commissioning, and also provides customers with comprehensive services.

The company was looking for a shredding solution for particularly large or bulky wood waste from production, including scrap wood, MDF, solid wood, and residual wood from load carriers and pallets. The aim was to find a shredder that could also handle metal impurities such as sleeves, screws, nails, and metal plates and separate the metal content fully automatically.
REQUIREMENTS
Shredding of large and bulky residual wood with a high metal content
Fully automatic metal separation without manual intervention
Maximum operational and personal safety
Integration of on-site feed and safety technology

The UNTHA LR1400 is the optimal shredding solution for OWI: this powerful single-shaft shredder ensures efficient recycling of particularly large parts. The cutting mechanism is extremely robust and therefore resistant to metal inclusions in the wood – these are shredded without any problems. The shredder stands in a pit and is fed by a feed conveyor with increased safety devices. Residual wood can also be fed manually or directly into the hopper using tipping boxes. The wood chips are fed via a sophisticated screw conveyor system to the drum magnet, which separates the metal content fully automatically. The cleaned wood chips are transported by an extraction system to the silos, from which the heating system is supplied. OWI processes approx. 300 tons of residual wood per year with the UNTHA LR1400 and uses the wood chips in its own wood chip furnace. This supplies the entire company with heat energy, saving up to 125,000 liters of heating oil.
With the LR1400, we can easily shred very large, bulky residual wood with metal inclusions. We use the wood chips in our own heating plant. This saves us 125,000 liters of heating oil per year and means we no longer have to rely on external disposal companies, which saves us time and money.
