Carpentry Kubik3 from Vorarlberg saves time and money by using the UNTHA LR520 shredder. Instead of disposing of residual wood externally, the company uses the wood shredder to process 1 m³/h into a homogenous output material that is then used in the in-house heating system.

Tischlerei Kubik3, a carpentry workshop in Vorarlberg, was founded in 2007 and manufactures kitchens, furniture for living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms, staircases and doors. In addition to craftsmanship, the small company also focuses on comprehensive services such as planning, assembly and maintenance, as well as value-preserving measures.

In the Kubik3 workshop, solid wood, chipboard, MDF and packaging board waste accumulates. In the past, this production waste was disposed of externally, which was both time-consuming and costly. The company was therefore looking for a compact solution that would reliably shred residual wood of different types and sizes. The wood chips produced are then pressed into briquettes which are used in the company's own firing system for heating.
REQUIREMENTS
Compact design
Efficient shredding
Homogeneous output material
Economical and ecological recycling of waste wood

The compact single-shaft shredder LR520 perfectly matched the requirements of Kubik3. The space situation on site was the main deciding factor: the shredder does not even need 1 m² of floor space, which made it easy to integrate into the company. Thanks to its low height, solid wood and board remnants as well as cardboard can be easily fed into the machine. The high throughput of the shredder minimises operating times and reduces overall costs compared to external disposal. The proven cutting system shreds quickly and thoroughly and, in combination with the 12-mm perforated screen, ensures a fine, briquettable shred. It is ideal for further utilisation in the heating system. The LR520 is extremely robust and the cutting system is resistant to foreign objects. Kubik3 has been operating the shredder for about 120 hours per year for a good ten years. During this time, the cutting tools have only had to be replaced once. The machine is serviced by UNTHA partner Hopfner Maschinen.
Due to the size of our company, the dimensions of the shredder were an important criterion for us. The LR520 from UNTHA is very compact and still shreds our waste wood effortlessly. We also don't have to worry about the shredder – it is low-maintenance and low-wear.
