The Turkish company KIVANÇ Adana produces paper from 100% waste paper and follows a zero-waste approach. To achieve this, the company invested in a shredder from UNTHA. With its help, it can shred reject materials in a meaningful way and generate energy for its operations. The shredder itself is also energy efficient. The goal has been achieved: recycle waste, conserve resources, reduce costs.

KIVANÇ Adana – a subsidiary of Kıvanç Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. – produces paper using 100 % wastepaper. The company’s annual production capacity is approximately 300,000 tons. Equipped with innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technology, the company aims to produce high-quality products while contributing to the environment and the country.

The company follows a zero-waste approach – in production as well as throughout the entire company. That is why paper is produced from 100% recycled paper and waste materials from production are used for energy generation. To complete this process, KIVANÇ Adana sought a shredder to process material coming from the reject handling system in paper production. The shredded material is then burned in the company's own co-incineration boiler to produce energy.
REQUIREMENTS
Energy efficiency / low energy costs
User-friendly interface
Low operating costs
Homogeneous output material in one process step
Regional support for service and spare parts
Resistant to non-shreddables such as metal parts

Ali Karagöl's team gathered information about similar applications at companies around the world. After initial contact with UNTHA Türkiye, an extended trial with an UNTHA shredder took place at the company. The team was thoroughly impressed by the machine and quickly decided to invest in the XR3000C – an energy-efficient and powerful single-shaft shredder. The C-cutting system ensures constant material feed and optimal shredding to a size of 80 mm. The shredder impressed above all with its high throughput of around 20 t/h, consistent performance, low energy costs and robust design.
Another important factor was the UNTHA Türkiye team itself, which stands out for its extensive experience in consulting and service, as well as its fast and effective solutions tailored to the customer's needs.
The shredded output material is burned in the co-incineration boiler to generate energy for the operation, resulting in the production of 8.6 MW of electricity. This enables the company to meet its sustainability goals: waste materials are put to good use, resources are conserved, and costs are reduced.
We pursue a zero-waste approach in all our production processes and throughout the entire company. That is why we chose the UNTHA XR: it helps us achieve this goal and is itself very energy-efficient and effective. It is the perfect match for us.
