Sunnking Sustainable Solutions, based in New York, relies on the RS100 4-shaft shredder from UNTHA. The company uses it to shred large quantities of electronic waste (WEEE) for recycling. The shredder's throughput, quality of the output material, and reliability were the main factors that won them over.

Sunnking Sustainable Solutions, founded in 2000, is an IT asset disposition (ITAD) and electronics recycling company based in New York. The company specializes in the reuse, resale, and recycling of electronic waste, serving both residential and commercial sectors. Sunnking efficiently processes large volumes of e-waste while upholding the highest environmental and data security standards. With over 155 collection sites, the company also hosts community recycling events to promote environmental responsibility.

To increase its recycling capacity, the company was looking for a robust shredder with a high throughput rate that could quickly and efficiently produce a homogeneous output material and was particularly suitable for shredding electronic scrap. It also needed to be possible to adjust the speed and torque for optimization.
REQUIREMENTS
High throughput
Good material breakdown
Optimal material feed
Various program settings
Low maintenance

The S25 is UNTHA's smallest shredder – a compact 2-shaft shredder for reducing the volume of materials such as metal, plastic, biological waste, paper and cardboard. ÖBB-Technische Services GmbH uses this shredder to shred steel swarf measuring max. 500 x 30 x 1 mm, which comes from a lathe. The swarf is fed into the shredder's cutting chamber via a discharge chute. The material is automatically drawn in by the cutting unit, which means that the shredder does not require a feeding system. The cutting principle of the UNTHA rotor scissors ensures that the material is shredded efficiently. The S25 is driven by an electronic direct drive. If foreign objects enter the cutting chamber, the motor is automatically stopped to prevent damage. Thanks to the slow-speed drive, the shredder is particularly energy-efficient and produces only low dust and noise emissions. The volume of the original material is reduced by up to 90%, which means it can be stored and transported in a space-saving manner. The UNTHA S25 was integrated into the existing control system to ensure synchronised operation with the lathe and discharge conveyor.
We needed a shredder that could handle our growing volume without compromising quality or efficiency. The UNTHA RS100 has exceeded our expectations, delivering exceptional throughput, reliability, and ease of maintenance. This investment has been a game-changer for our operations.
